Preorders for our next book, Odyssey: The Complete Game Master’s Guide to Campaign Management, will be opening on June 3, and we want you to be able to check out the book before deciding whether to preorder.
You can now download a free 9-page PDF preview of Odyssey that includes the cover, table of contents, introduction, and opening section. This should give you a good idea of what topics the book covers and how it approaches them.
The initial announcement of Odyssey also offers some info on the book as well as Q&A in the comments. We’ll be doing another content preview as launch day nears. Stay tuned!
I wonder whether Paizo’s Ultimate Campaign (coming out this month) will be generic enough to compete with Odyssey. Not sure how I missed the initial announcement, but as always I’m excited for system-neutral GM advice, especially from the Gnome Stew guys. If it’s anything like Never Unprepared I’m sure I’ll enjoy. Looking forward to June.
I don’t believe it will. It looks like an excellent book aimed squarely at Pathfinder GMs, though I’m guessing it will also be of some use to GMs of other fantasy GMs and to GMs in general.
Odyssey complements Never Unprepared well, though one isn’t needed to enjoy the other.
Must have missed the product description for UC, as I think you’re right. Which makes me look forward to Odyssey all the more. Is it June yet?
I’m definitely hooked. Now I just need to wait until I can order one. Great job to everyone who worked on this book!
June 3 will be here before we know it!
I haven’t read the preview yet, but I really like what you did for the cover. Specifically, it’s great that the DM (front and center!) is a realistic-looking woman. In an industry that is notoriously sexist, it’s great to see you folks moving ahead.
Thanks!
John and our artists — for this book Avery Liell-kok, Christopher Reach, Daniel Wood, and Matt Morrow — have done a fantastic job of creating artwork that’s inclusive and full of diversity without it feeling PC (a term I loathe) or artificial.
Out of curiosity, will there be anyone at Origins who will have copies of your books for sale?
My gaming book cash is really tight right now and I’m saving up to buy something when I go to Origins and if the Gnome Stew books are available, I might pick one up there… 🙂
No, the book won’t be out by Origins. Our fulfillment partner, Studio 2 Publishing, will have copies of our other three books for sale at their booth.
Odyssey will be out by Gen Con if you happen to be attending that one. Studio 2 will have all four books for sale there.
Gotcha. I’ll make sure to swing over by their booth then and to check them out at GenCon as well. I’m interested in getting both ‘Never Unprepared’ and this one. (I already have Eureka and LOVE it.)
Really looking forward for this book. Loved the preview and the cover art is just amazing! June can’t arrive soon enough.
Suffice to say, I’m excited!
I’ll probably be slapped for being nitpicky, but in the second sentence of “Phil’s Introduction” the word “use” should be “used”. Is it too late to fix it? It gets the book off to jarring start.
You most certainly won’t get slapped, and that’s not nitpicking — it’s a typo. It never ceases to amaze me how many people can read and proofread a book and miss something; I don’t know how many times I’ve personally read that sentence, but it’s at least three. :-S
It’s not too late for corrections. In fact, the authors and I are reading the whole book again over the next few days with an eye to catching stray issues like this. I’ll add this one — thank you!
Very excited about this! Your other books were/are great!!!
