Monday of this week OneBookShelf sites DriveThruRPG.com, DriveThruComics.com, and RPGNow.com announced two special bundles being sold to raise money for Doctors Without Borders’ efforts to provide medical aid to the people of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces of Pakistan where floods have devastated the local people.
The first bundle is a collection of role playing games, supplements, and accessories in PDF format totaling $724.46 in value and that is available for download for $25 through DriveThruRPG and RPGNow. The second bundle is a collection of comics in PDF format totaling $173.91 in value which is available for download for $10 through DriveThruComics. These bundles will be available until Monday, October 25th 2010.
These titles have all been donated by the publishers and every penny raised by this event goes to Doctors Without Borders’ work in Pakistan.
Not only is this event raising money for a good cause, but the material being donated is quality stuff. Even if you do not use many of the products included within these bundles you will still get your money’s worth out of just one or two of the products being donated. I myself purchased the RPG bundle and have already found five awesome titles that together would have cost me three times the bundle’s price if purchased separately. The comics bundle is next on my list. This really is a win-win situation for the charity and the consumer.
This is not the first time that these sites have offered bundles in order to raise money for Doctors Without Borders. Earlier this year the “Gamers Helping Haiti” bundle offered a similar bundle for $20 that resulted in over $100,000 being donated to Doctors Without Borders to help with relief efforts following the devastation caused by an earthquake that literally leveled most of the country’s infrastructure.
Have you purchased either of these bundles? If so, let others know what you think of the products that you received in our comments section below.
I just purchased the bundle yesterday, 10/20/10, and it’s already proven to be worth the $25. I’ve had ‘Starblazers Adventures’, ‘FantasyCraft 2nd Edition’ and ‘Adventures in the Land of Oz’ on my wish list for awhile – to find them all included for one very reasonable price was great. There’s a lot of stuff in the bundle that I’ve never heard of, and I’m looking forward to a lot of happy reading in the next month. FTW!
@jr37 – I know exactly what you mean. I keep finding wonderful surprises in this bundle of stuff that I normally would not buy. I’m thinking of building the Ultimate GM Screen 2. I was not going to buy Icons (no offense Walt!), because I have too many Supers and Fudge games that I have yet to actually play, and now I am going to play Icons come Hell or high water. The d66 Spaceport City Names is a nice tool for a GM running a robust space opera setting. The list just keeps on growing.
It is just a plethora of awesome for $25! Plus Doctors Without Borders is the kind of charity that I think is brilliant. I’m happy to support them with my dollars like this. Way to go DriveThruRPG!!
