At its heart, Van Helsing the game repackages Van Helsing the movie. But videogames are supposed to be interactive, and a huge chunk of that interactivity is lost when we can't make our own stories. Then again, this is a game based on a film based on a character created more than 100 years ago. If Van Helsing's own writers didn't get to make the story, why should we?

In Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, there are no princesses to save. There are no worlds to conquer, no aliens to thwart. There's only a dilapidated farm that a young man and his partner Takakura must turn into a thriving business. Players raise livestock, grow crops and remodel buildings. But those who think that virtual farming is about as much fun as watching corn grow should think again.
