I have to admit, I tense up a little whenever I see “Xbox One Game Preview” in the title of something I’m playing. It’s not that there aren’t some fantastic experience to be had (because there are!) but these words can also mean crippling bugs and glitches galore while exploring a fantasy landscape.
The best part about experimental retro games is the ability for game makers with some vision to explore an interesting idea – what if previous generations of devs kept making titles at a given level of technology rather than constantly chasing graphical improvements?
HIGH A well-balanced and well-implemented class system.
LOW Graphical glitches abound when the action gets fierce.
WTF Exactly why are we doing this again? Plotless games are so passe…
HIGH: Too many memorable moments and setpieces to count.
LOW: No option to make all of the Nazis look like Richard Spencer.
WTF: Are we really at the point where some good ol’ fashioned Nazi slaughter is a political statement?
