POW! SOCK!! BLAM!!! As modern pop-media consumers, we’ve heard about comic books “coming to life” time and time again – but Infinite Rabbit Holes — a project from studio Animal Repair Shop — is claiming to do that like never before with their Arkham Asylum Files series of deluxe mixed-reality game boxes. The first in the series is out now, it’s beefy, and it’s ambitious!
HIGH The Devil In Me boss fight.
LOW Trying to kill hordes of rats and scarabs.
WTF The ‘flesh tube’ tunnel.
Is that hyperbole? Absolutely. But it’s not without truth at its core — after all, DOOM 3 VR had the potential to not only be a great game – which it is, when played with an AIM controller – but also to send out a clear message that classic First Person Shooters can have new life if brought to VR.
HIGH Endearing characters and a great sci-fi yarn…
LOW …that I kinda wish was playable without VR.

HIGH Crossing a room in seconds with a few perfect swings.

LOW Repetition severely dampens the scares.
WTF An enemy type straight out of Left 4 Dead.
HIGH The melee combat.
LOW General jankiness, especially when it comes to the sound.
WTF Dirty bandages have no negative effects…?

LOW The hacking minigames can be a little irritating.
WTF The, uh, “fuel” for the med stations.
