For the month of October, I’d like to invite you to participate in a project here on TT — I’m going to call it Blogging for GMs.

In addition to writing my own posts for GMs here, I’d like to highlight blog posts, articles and newsletters about GMing from all over the web — that’s the goal of the Blogging for GMs project. There are lots of great RPG blogs and sites out there, and I’m excited to see what people come up with on this topic!

Here’s how it works:

1. You write a blog post or article about GMing during the month of October. The only guideline is that it should be written for GMs: tips, advice, tricks of the trade, theory, anecdotes — the field is wide open!

2. Link back to Treasure Tables in your post, either to the main page (www.treasuretables.org) or to this post (www.treasuretables.org/2005/09/31-days-of-blogging-for-gms).

3. Email me at martin(at)treasuretables(dot)org with a link to your post/article.

4. Every day or two, I’ll put up a summary of the posts that I’ve been notified about, with links back to them.

5. Contribute as often as you like!

The Blogging for GMs project was inspired by the 31 Days to Building a Better Blog project over on ProBlogger. ProBlogger is one of my favorite non-gaming blogs, and the posts for that project (which ended in August) were so useful and so much fun to read that I decided I wanted to try something similar here at TT.

One of the main benefits of ProBlogger’s project was that it introduced me to a lot of excellent blogs I might never have found on my own — that’s part of what I’d like to do with the Blogging for GMs project. There are a lot of smart, articulate people writing about gaming on the web, and my hope is that this project will bring them new readers while providing GMs with some great stuff to read.

If you don’t have your own blog or website, I’d like to invite you to take part in the Blogging for GMs project by suggesting a topic that interests you in the comments. These suggestions can serve as creative fuel for anyone who wants to write about them, and I encourage folks who are writing material for this project to take advantage of them.

I’ve created a new category called Blogging for GMs Project — all of my posts in October, as well as all of the summary posts covering material written elsewhere, will be posted in that category (as well other categories, like Advice or Ideas, as applicable).

If you have any questions about the Blogging for GMs project, I’ll be happy to answer them in the comments. If this takes off, I think it could be a lot of fun for everyone — writers and readers alike — and I look forward to seeing your posts for the Blogging for GMs project!
